Who are we and what are we building
We are the founders of Shopflo, Priy Ranjan, Ankit Bansal and Ishan Rakshit. We have all looked at the commerce infrastructure in depth from multiple POVs. In our previous roles, we have interacted with >400 brands (Priy, at Elevation Capital), built commerce infrastructure for restaurants (Ankit, at Gupshup), and studied the fintech-SaaS ecosystem closely (Ishan, at Elevation Capital). Now we have all set out to reimagine D2C shopping experiences at checkout.
Quick update: Shopflo is almost baked and ready to come out of the oven.
While that happens, we wanted to share why we are building this company, the problem we are solving, and the vision for what it can become. Let’s dive in
What if your cashier started to ask 20 questions before letting you checkout?
Imagine yourself in your favorite clothing store. You have spent a significant amount of time trying different outfits for your next party. You have finally liked an outfit for tomorrow's office dinner. You reach the checkout counter, however, the cashier is refusing to let you leave.
Most D2C brands are currently experiencing this, as the majority of their customers are buying with them for the first time. Worst of all, it has a direct influence on their business as it leads to drop-offs in the purchase funnel.
Out of the 100 people who reach checkouts online, only 30 actually end up purchasing
This is a huge drop-off, and it's a little ludicrous. The customer is on the verge of making a decision. It is painful for the merchant to grab the customer's attention through the pool of ads on social media, get them to visit the website & like something enough to add it to the cart only to drop off at the last step even when the intent was SO clear.
Consumers are accustomed to much better experiences on Amazon, Swiggy
Companies like Amazon & Swiggy are always pushing the boundaries of the checkout experiences. They have the technological know-how to pull it off. Most importantly, they operate on a national scale, with the majority of customers accessing them several times per month. All of this information enables them to tailor the customer experience to perfection.

Say hello to Shopflo! Our mission is to build solutions that will enable the D2C ecosystem to provide the same quality of checkout experience as the world's leading e-commerce platforms. Consumers will have a repeat purchase experience across the board in our community of merchants.
The merchant wants to make the most out of the customers reaching their checkout
The possibilities of adding value to consumers while they are at checkout are limitless. The aim of the merchants is to maximize the LTV (Lifetime value) from each of their visitors and checkout is a great place to do that.
Shopflo is also looking to enable sharing of knowledge, insights, and help among this community
We learned about several difficulties encountered by brands in our conversations with over 100 brands over the previous year. It dawned on us that many challenges are universal, and there is immense benefit in allowing people to learn from one another. With that in mind, we want to contribute to the D2C community by sharing information, thoughts, and stories through this newsletter. Stay tuned and subscribe for all the updates!
